Artist Statement

At the core of Sarah Arensi’s practice lies the body understood as an archive: a repository of emotional memory, unconscious patterning, and creative intelligence. Through her visual language, she investigates states of tension and release, fragmentation and recomposition, allowing images to emerge as traces of an embodied process rather than premeditated forms. Her paintings arise from a gestural and intuitive methodology in which form and color are not imposed but revealed through physical engagement and somatic attention. The act of painting becomes a threshold — a liminal space where control is suspended and the image surfaces from a pre-verbal, sensorial dimension of experience. In this sense, the work does not seek to illustrate concepts, but to activate perception.

Alongside painting, Arensi integrates performance and project-based practices as extensions of her visual inquiry. These works emphasize the temporal, relational, and collective dimensions of art, shifting the artwork from a fixed object toward a shared experiential field. Within this framework, performative actions function as tools for recalibrating attention, presence, and creative agency — both individual and collective.

Her practice engages with contemporary discourses on embodied knowledge, post-disciplinary art, and the redefinition of authorship, positioning creativity as a relational and transformative force rather than a solely individual act.

Arensi’s work has been presented in exhibitions and international artistic contexts engaging with contemporary art and experiential aesthetics. Her artworks are held in private collections and are accompanied by certificates of authenticity.
